La zona di fondamenta degli Ormesini è un vero campionario di pessimi interventi. Ha subito un dissennato lavoro di rialzo del piano di calpestio e la più eclatante razzia di masegni. Il Comitato calcola che siano oltre 14.000 le pietre scomparse da questa "insula" in occasione dei recenti lavori. La foto sopra mostra alcune centinaia di masegni grandi e in buono stato pronti per essere spediti e sottratti al patrimonio della città.

Per giustificare l'enorme impiego di pietre nuove, i responsabili dei lavori hanno addotto la motivazione che la nuova posa "a giunto unito" (letteralmente pietre strettamente accostate senza cemento) avrebbe ridotto l'area copribile con quelli originali. In realtà in ampie zone i masegni sono adesso assai più distanti fra loro di quanto non fossero prima dei lavori (foto 1). Un'altra motivazione recita che sarebbero state sostituite soltanto pietre piccole e in cattivo stato; anche questa è una spudorata menzogna: in realtà sono state lasciate in loco solo le pietre più piccole e malandate (foto 2), mentre migliaia di quelle grandi e in buono stato partivano su chiatte per ignota destinazione (foto in alto sulla pagina).
Oltre al furto delle pietre, i lavori sono stati condotti in modo indecente: i masegni sono ora a giunto unito ora cementati, sempre e comunque posati su semplice sabbia e a lavori appena ultimati già presentavano evidenti segni di dissesto (foto 2, 3). L'infelicissima idea di rialzare il piano di calpestio (che ben lungi dal risolvere il problema dell'acqua alta ne ha creati di nuovi e più gravi, come spieghiamo nella sezione rialzo del suolo, appare oggi soltanto un pretesto per avviare il pubblico finanziamento dell'enorme cantiere e mettere in moto la macchina del furto e della corruzione. Amministratori corrotti ed esecutori incompetenti sembrano l'unica chiave in grado di spiegare una catena di cialtronerie urbanistiche come quelle realizzate nell' "insula" degli Ormesini.

The zone of the canal front of the Ormesisni is a perfect example of very bad interventions. There is suddenly ridiculous work being done to raise the walkways and the most evident plundering of "masegni". The Committee calculates that more than 14,000 stones were subtracted from this zone during recent works. The above photo shows hundreds of large stones in good condition ready to be shipped away and lost to the city. To justify the enormous use of new stones, those responsible for the work, declare that the their motivation is that the new application of stones is a "giunto unito" (literally the stones are tightly set without cement) reducing the covered area of the originals. In reality, in a large area the stones have very much distance between them if compared to that before the work (photo 1). Another justification was only the small stones in bad condition would be substituted, a shameless lie, in reality only the smallest stones in bad repair were left in place (photo 2). Meanwhile, thousands of large ones in good condition were taken away on barges for an unknown destination (photo at top of page). Other than stealing the stones, the work was conducted in an indecent way: the stones are now partly joined together with cement partly using the "a giunto unito" style and they are placed on simple sand which means that recently completed work already shows evidence of damage (photo 2, 3). The fool idea of rising the plane of pavimentation (that far from resolving the problem of high water, instead have created new problems, as we describe in the section raising the ground), appears today only as a pretext to get public financing for the enormous construction site and to put into action the stealing and corruption. Corrupt administrators and incompetent executors seem to be the only key able to explain the chain of urbanistic slovenlinesses perpetrated in this zone of the Ormesini.
